Permits in Willis

Inside the city, the City of Willis Department of Community Development issues building permits. Residential applications are filed at City Hall with a PDF copy of the plans, and lots in the floodplain need an elevation certificate. Outside the city, Montgomery County handles development, floodplain and septic permits. On Lake Conroe, docks, bulkheads and other shoreline work also need permits from the San Jacinto River Authority.

Do I need an SJRA permit to build on Lake Conroe?

For docks, bulkheads and other structures on the lake, yes: the San Jacinto River Authority requires a permit before construction begins. The house itself goes through the city or Montgomery County.
