Permits in Austin
Austin Development Services handles permits, plan review and inspections. Residential Plan Review checks zoning, the 2024 International Residential Code with Austin's local amendments, and tree, floodplain and erosion hazards. Many permits, attachments and fees go through the Austin Build + Connect portal, while residential applications use the city's online review forms. Outside the city, Travis County Development Services handles permits.
More homes on one lot
Austin's HOME code changes allow up to three homes on lots zoned SF-1, SF-2 and SF-3, and one home on lots as small as 1,800 square feet. We design duplexes, added units and small-lot homes that fit the new rules.

Do you work in Austin even though you are in Houston?
Yes. We have designed projects in Austin. We work from your survey, photos and existing drawings, meet by video call, and come to the site when the project needs it.
